The Blazing Mane Pirates (燃えているたてがみの海賊団 Moete iru Tategami no Kaizokudan) is the original pirate crew formed by Pyrite Liger during the earlier years of the Great Pirate Era. This crew in particular was noted for its growing reputation after the death of Liger's former captain, Gold Roger, and thus explaining how Liger grew to become one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea soon after. Many older and more infamous pirates that sailed the seas during this time can be traced back to this crew amongst other well known earlier pirate crews, such as Haidar, the current general of Sahara Island's Pride Clan.

After being confronted by now world renowned bounty hunter, Destiny Blade, Liger was ultimately defeated and brought into the Marines, where he spent the rest of his life in Impel Down, only to be set free during the Impel Down arc later. Due to Liger's arrest, The Blazing Mane Pirates ultimately dissolved over time without their proper leader, and inevitably disbanded and became another footnote in history; only to be revived years later as the currently known New World pirate crew, The New Blazing Mane Pirates.

Trivia[]

  • The Blazing Mane Pirates took its name from an instance where Liger lit his hair on fire as a form of psychological warfare against his enemies. This was heavily inspired from stories of the real life Edward Teach, who was said to have done the same thing.
